Founder’s Note
If you’ve been here a while, you may know that I used to lead every newsletter with a founder’s note. I stopped doing it because I was often grasping for something timely or relevant to say; it was one of those things that I dreaded doing almost every time.
Well, I still don’t have the words. But I still felt like it was worth including something this week.
We grapple with hard stuff inside of Society of Working Moms all the time (because, as we all know, working motherhood is hard!) But carrying about with “business as usual,” especially as a mom in Minnesota, is becoming increasingly dissonant of late.
I keep thinking about what it means to “build community” when the world feels uncertain, when the news makes us want to both look away and stay vigilant, when we're trying to model values for our kids while also protecting our own capacity.
There's no neat conclusion here. But if you're feeling that dissonance too, if you're wondering how to show up as yourself while everything feels fraught, just know that you're not alone. 🫶
