💌 SOWM Digest 024 | welcome to the fall member drive

❤️‍🔥 24 ways to give back to SOWM

IT’S MEMBER DRIVE MONTH! 💃

Don’t worry, this former PBS employee 👋 is acutely aware of breaking your “regularly scheduled programming” and so I’ll try to make this as minimally disruptive as possible!

Our goal is to welcome 50 new paid members into our special corner of the internet through a month-long game of BINGO.

Participating is optional but encouraged (and rewarded!) Prizes include 3 months comped membership, 1 60-minute 1:1 session with Jess, $50 to Nuts.com, $50 to Sophisticated Small, $50 to Hand & Stone Spas!

The card includes 24 different tasks you can do, but if you only do 5, here are the top tasks that would help us out in a big way! 🙏🫶

Links followed by a ‘🔒️’ are links to the WM Slack community.
You can apply at www.working-moms.com/apply.

If you’d like to re-up or manage your membership, you can do so at this link. (If you’re a returning member, please forward me your confirmation email and I’ll reactivate your Slack access.)

🌐COMMUNITY NOTES🌐

  • Welcome to our newest members: Shannon and Yami! 👋

  • Changes to scholarship program: I must limit the number of outgoing free and discounted memberships in order to sustain the group.

    • If you joined us on a scholarship and can now afford to pay it forward for other moms who are looking, please do update your membership details at workingmoms.memberful.com/account.

    • If applicable, make use of this reimbursement letter (and/or let me know how I could make this more usable)!!!

  • If you haven’t picked up The Joy Of Small Things and want to read along for our September book club, make sure you grab a copy!

  • This week’s coaching conversation is about navigating chaos 😵‍💫. Tune in Wed at 12PM CT in #coaching-convos!🔒️

💡WEEKLY READ💡

➡️ Remember this crucial last line: “…hiring is a two way street; you’re evaluating and deciding on a prospective new employer as much as they are deciding who best to hire.”
➡️ If you are in a hiring position, have compassion in this really tough market!
➡️ If you’re in the thick of it, commiserate over in #job-seekers🔒️

👉️MEMBER RECS👈️

These lady boxers, these meetups to foster connection and end the loneliness epidemic, this no-frills-yet-delicious food blog, this pitch form for budding writers, these hypoallergenic baby wipes, and this list of job boards.

🔦MEMBER SPOTLIGHT🔦

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦Kids: Charlotte, she’s 3. Grayson, he’s 1.
📍Location: ATX! 🤠
💗Favorite thing about the WM Slack community: My favorite aspect is connecting with like-minded parents who are in similar stages of life. It’s a supportive community where we share both the highs and lows without judgment, knowing that we’re all in this journey together.
😋Favorite food: Big foodie over here! 🍕🍣🌮 From pizza to sushi to tacos—name it, and I’m ready to try it! Fun fact: my husband is a Chef, so our lifelong adventure includes cooking parties and restaurant hopping.
📚️Reading right now: A Court of Thorns and Roses - book 3. I’m also a big fan of mystery and thriller books.
🐶 Pets: Bella is our 9-year-old, 55lb yellow Lab mix who we rescued when she was just 8 weeks old!
💪Recent win: Getting back into prioritizing my health and fitness. I’ve been making time to work out and am loving my classes at Orange Theory Fitness and walks with my fur baby.
🧘‍♀️Favorite way to relax: A good spa day—whether it’s a relaxing massage, a rejuvenating facial, or a manicure and pedicure. It’s my time to take care of myself and recharge.
